Burly builders are pretty in pink for breast cancer - Published on Thursday 26 Jan 2012 at 10:06:37

For one day only some of Keepmoat Homes’ beefiest workmen donned the pinkest of pink protective gear on site at developments in North Huyton and Burnley, all in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink day.

Decked out in pink high-vis jackets, pink hard hats and even pink boots, the workmen at Hamilton Place and Pendle View put aside their male pride for a fantastic cause, raising £1,159.47 in the process.

David Wroe, Managing Director for Keepmoat Homes North West, commented: “We’ve been taking part in this for a couple of years now and raised more than ever this time. Breast cancer affects so many people, some of whom we know personally, so we’re honoured to do our bit to help.

“All the lads on site really got into the spirit of the day, had a good laugh and helped to raise money for a fantastic cause. We can’t wait to do it again next year!”

Rebecca Guy, Senior wear it pink Manager, Breast Cancer Campaign said: ‘We are very grateful to Keepmoat Homes for taking part in this year’s wear it pink day and helping us towards our £2.5 million target. Every year, some 48,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer and wear it pink helps to fund vital research into the disease which affects so many.”

The wear it pink day is the Breast Cancer Campaign’s biggest fundraising event. The money raised will go towards funding research projects to advance the treatment of breast cancer and improve the lives of patients and families throughout the UK.

Keepmoat Homes currently has 12 developments across the North West in Accrington, Burnley, Merseyside and Oldham. For more information about the developments, the houses and payment options visit www.keepmoathomes.co.uk, become a fan on Facebook or follow @keepmoathomes on Twitter.
