Location...
Darfield is small village surrounded mainly by green fields. The village once had a number of coal mines but these have since been replaced by trees and agriculture. To the edge of the village runs the A636 between Goldthorpe and Barnsley. The village has a number of local shops.

Darfield is ideally placed between the A1(M) and the M1, M18 motorways all bringing Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and Wakefield within easy reach.

There is an array of convenient shops in the village. Barnsley, less than 5 miles away, has a large shopping centre with all the usual high street stores and for a fantastic shopping experience Sheffield\'s Meadowhall Shopping Centre is hard to beat, with over 600 shops and businesses. Barnsley also has an exciting range of bars, pubs, leisure centres and live music venues.

Barnsley is undergoing significant transformation with the town centre set for major redevelopment.
The creation of the Barnsley People\'s Museum and Archives Centre. Two floors of Barnsley\'s Town Hall will be transformed into state-of-the-art museum galleries. This will be completed by July 2012.
Barnsley hosts one of only three Design centres in the country, showcasing the best in contemporary international national and regional design.
The cities of Leeds and Sheffield are well worth a visit plus the vast and beautiful open countryside of the Peak District provides a great escape for day trips.
Barnsley has a great mix of leisure centres and sporting clubs plus a championship football team.
