Henley Grange, Phase 2

Development Information

History

Henley Grange is located at Battle Hill in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Wallsend derives its name as the location of the end of Hadrian's Wall, the Roman fortification stretching across the north of England. In Roman Times the fort of Segedunum stood on the banks of the Tyne and was an occupied garrison for 300 years. More recently Wallsend was a centre for ship building before the industry began to decline in the 1970's. The town is also home to the Wallsend Boys Club, an association football club, which has produced many famous players such as Alan Shearer, Lee Clark, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick. It is also hometown and birthplace of musician, Sting.

Amenities

Currently Wallsend has a population of approaching 44000 people and as such has all the amenities needed by a town. A new, modern shopping centre has recently been built close to the development, it contains many small local shops as well as nationally recognised chains. Its close proximity to Newcastle City Centre and the Royal Quays Outlet Centre mean everything from everyday essentials and specialist needs are catered for.
